A Legacy of Faith — Mom’s Teaching

While I am grateful for the many people who have influenced my walk with Christ, it is my mother whose spiritual guidance has left a long-lasting imprint. Her life was a living testimony, a woman full of faith, unwavering in her devotion to our Lord and Savior. From my earliest days, she established within me and my brother the significance of God’s Word, prayer and having faith.
She didn’t just teach us Scripture, she lived it. The goodness of God was a “daily” conversation in our home, and the pursuit of a sanctified life was not only explained but modeled. She made it clear that to live a life pleasing to God required obedience, humility, and submission.
Among the very first things we learned as children alongside the ABCs and how to count were the Ten Commandments. They weren’t just rules; they were the foundation of a holy life, a guide to living in covenant with God. What began as simple lessons in childhood became spiritual pillars that have shaped every area of my life.
The discipline my mother instilled in me continues to bear fruit. It has prepared me to share the Gospel with others and to raise my own family on the solid ground of God’s truth. My faith grows stronger each day as I study the Word, spend time in prayer, and walk in fellowship with the body of Christ.
Though my mother went home to be with the Lord in 1996, her teachings live on, not only in memory, but in spirit. What she imparted to me was more than knowledge; it was the path to eternal life through Jesus Christ. Her legacy is one of righteousness, and it continues to guide me on the narrow road that leads to life everlasting.
Love you, MOM (Evangelist Callie G.B. Dawson, DMin.)
