Awake and Turn to God

In Zechariah 1:1–6, the prophet reminds Israel of their history. God had been deeply angered by the disobedience of their ancestors. Through earlier prophets, He repeatedly warned them to turn away from their sinful ways, but they refused to listen. As a result, they faced the consequences of their actions. Though the prophets eventually passed away, God’s words did not, they came true exactly as spoken. When judgment came, the people finally acknowledged that God had dealt with them according to their deeds. Through Zechariah, God urges them not to repeat the mistakes of their ancestors. He calls them to return to Him with sincere hearts. God promised, if they turn back to Him, He will turn back to them. Consider this, this message is both a warning and an invitation, obedience leads to restoration, while rebellion leads to loss.

When we look at the world today, the parallels are unmistakable. We are God’s children, and He is our Creator. He has established how we should live, yet many have chosen their own paths (worldviews). As a result, we see widespread crime, hatred, violence, injustice, division, and a growing number of people walking away from God. We often wonder why there is so much chaos, but Scripture makes it clear: turning away from God leads to turmoil. However, there is hope. Just as God told Israel they could be redeemed, the same promise stands today. Redemption, peace, and restoration are found by returning to God and living according to His Word. True peace is not found in the world’s explanations but in obedience to God.

As Scripture reminds us:

2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Matthew 6:33 KJV

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

The great struggle of humanity- flesh versus spirit! The walk and the talk being in alignment. The ever presence of sinful opportunities, but the power inside of us maintains us and keeps the love of God preeminent! We fight against our flesh instead of being in agreement with it. The war is constant until we depart from this earthly vessel. Good message!

Replying to

Indeed, Dr. We will continue to have those challenges/obstacles in our lives. We must understand fully the significance of resisting the enemy. We can only accomplish this with the Holy Spirit. Instead of caving into what is not of God, “stand,” and resist. The Word shares, although weapons are made to attack us, they will not prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Blessings…
